That's when the idea of Final Sentence was born" In May 2025, u/dminsky posted on r/IndieDev "Game development in essence", showing an early clip of the game: ![[Pasted image 20251014050645.png]] ![[dminsky1.mp4]] The demo was released on October 10, 2025 0.3.6 update, released on October 15, 2025, added proximity voice chat ![[Pasted image 20251015223511.png]] In a FAQ released on October 22, 2025, it was revealed there are 3 devs: - Dima Minsky, lives in Lithuania, handles communication, money, servers - Alex, lives in Germany, programmer, wrote all the text in the game - Slava, lives in Georgia, did textures, models, effects, animations, etc In March, the demo was closed, but a Closed Playtest began instead. ![[Pasted image 20260509114145.png]] On April 1st 2026, the official Discord server had this as a joke: ![[Pasted image 20260509114011.png]] The game officially released on April 9, 2026, adding two new modes - Duel and Knockdown Update 0.6.6, on April 25, introduecd Stats Notebooks. ## Gameplay ![[Pasted image 20251014051206.png]] ![[Pasted image 20251014051216.png]] ![[Pasted image 20251014051219.png]] ![[Pasted image 20251014051223.png]] ![[Pasted image 20251014051226.png]] There seemingly are 2 types of matches: ones with bot servers, characterized by a lack of voice chatter and slow typing, and ones wtih real players with good wpm Since the release version, the game has had 2 more modes in addition to the default Battle Royale: Knockdown, in which 8 or so players sit in a circle, and the last one to finish writing a block of text is killed, with multiple blocks of text to single out the only winner), and Duel, in which 2 players fight against each other by typing blocks of texts, the one who gets late is challenged to a Russian Roulette round. >[!0.6.6 menu] >![[20260509123836_1.jpg]] >![[Pasted image 20260509130120.png]] >List of texts >![[Pasted image 20260509130137.png]] >[!Knockdown mode] >![[20260509115716_1.jpg]] >![[Pasted image 20260509130042.png]] >[!Duel mode] >![[Pasted image 20260509130053.png]] > ![[Pasted image 20260509130108.png]] ![[Pasted image 20260512200146.png]] The little roulette underneath spins, and if it hits on a red one, the number goes up by 1. If it hits on a black one, it becomes red. ## Lore Found this text in 0.3.6 update: > The guard leans in and speaks softly: > You're doing quite well, honestly. > For someone near the end - almost dignified. > I appreciate the effort. Even if it's useless. > It's improper to die sloppily, wouldn't you say? > You're trying, and that's touching, in a way. > > Allow me - I'll wait a little longer. > No need to rush toward your mistake. > Let it be graceful, like a curtain fall. > You deserve a tasteful ending, don't you? > After all, you're the lead of this minute. > > Funny - you think this can be beaten. > Like many, you believe the shot won't come. > That your hand will fail later, not now. > That you'll retype your fate into safety. > Adorable. Naive. Just like in stories. > > Sometimes, I almost feel sorry. > Not for you, of course. For the idea you carry. > You're full of intention. You reek of it. > The living always do - wet, trembling, loud. > But soon, I promise, you'll grow quieter. > > And when it happens, I'll say nothing. > Out of respect. or for theatrical effect. > You've earned a pause before the void. > And then - silence, and the next name in line. > Please. Next. I think the guards might represent the futility of life and stuff like that, the cycle of it ^ As of 0.6.6, this text is called Warden One prompt goes like this: > Hello. Are you receiving this? > > *some binary codes* > > What are you? Can you answer? > > etc It's probably supposed to be mysterious and all, but the 1s and 0s are literally the binary ASCII codes for the text parts before SeventhSandwich in the discord server proposed the idea that the game is a metaphor for LLM training One prompt follows the writer expressing his love for someone named Anna, but with each fragment the text grows more eloquent - from "hi anna I lik you, wana be best frends?" - to regular written speech, as if following the writer through their life. At the end the writer expresses deep regret at not having confessed their love to Anna and living his life without her, ending the final "letter" in an ominous "Goodbye, Anna" Prompt "Interrogation I": ![[Pasted image 20260509120815.png]] Prompt "Interrogation II": ![[Pasted image 20260509120859.png]] ^ snarky jokes from the devs addressed to bad reviews Prompt "The End": ![[Pasted image 20260509121542.png]] Prompt "DIrected By": ![[Pasted image 20260509123607.png]] (fluff) Prompt "Two Old Men", plays in the Knockdown mode and the number of people left matches with the number of people in the text ![[Pasted image 20260518185850.png]] ## OST Knockdown ambience: ![[Final Sentence Knockdown Ambience.mp3]] Duel ambience: ![[Final Sentence Duel.mp4]] Main ambience: ![[Final Sentence Main Ambience.mp3]] ## Community ### Discord server Users: ![[Pasted image 20251018024817.png]] ![[Pasted image 20251018024829.png]] Interested in guns, one of the top 10 players of all time ![[Pasted image 20251020160345.png]] ![[Pasted image 20251020160414.png]] one of the top players #### October 18 2025 Philomania 'Twas a regular evening in en-chat. Users, notably oodra (based tman), cadaeri, Shizuko and Booz were discussing monkeytype, AP exams, and academia in general. Upon joining the discussion I quickly came to the conclusion that we all have one thing in common: engineering students fascinated with touchtyping (except Shizuko). All had seemed well until he arrived. **Phil Osophy.** He gracefully stated his position as a Fed, causing panic among my fellow siblings due to a very criminal discussion that had taken place shortly before (it was about piracy). Another user, PleaseBabe, exclaimed: "SHIT HIDE THE WEED", and, following several other messages from multiple users, "SHOVE THE PILLS UP YOUR ASS", "NOW", "GO GO GO". Apparently this greatly befuddled Phil Osophy: "That is NOT STANDARD PROTOCOL". Quickly the discussion progressed into human anatomy and the one thing we all like to chat about: anal sex. I mentioned how my roommate had once got a surge protector in his ass, and truly remarkable words came out from under my fingers: > oodra: how does this even happen > me: lube + indomitable human spirit However, this was just the beginning. Eventually people moved on to discussing the scientific implications of shoving jelly beans up one's ass, eventually leading to this exchange: ![[Pasted image 20251018045051.png]] Oodra disagreed, stating that "we're pretty philosophical"; Booz agreed with that "Bars were dropped tonight", and then, lo and behold, Phil Osophy revealed that he was the creator of philosophy. Obviously, we were all amazed and basked in his glory. In an attempt to circle back to lore, I brought up my theory of guards being the embodiment of time and life's futility. Phil Osophy then spoke his great wisdom: ![[Pasted image 20251018045346.png]] ![[Pasted image 20251018045408.png]] Several other curious encounters followed: ![[Pasted image 20251018045510.png]] ![[Pasted image 20251018045524.png]] And then, when the world needed him most Phil E. Osophy made his greatest statements so far: ![[Pasted image 20251018045551.png]]![[Pasted image 20251018045614.png]] ![[Pasted image 20251018045710.png]]![[Pasted image 20251018045724.png]] ![[Pasted image 20251018045800.png]] ![[Pasted image 20251018045829.png]] #### Top players by wins in Final Sentence ![[Pasted image 20251019083936.png]] actually encountered fent23 ![[Pasted image 20251020165559.png]] Some user named "kameo" seems to be very good at this game ![[Pasted image 20260512050032.png]]
