## Climate
Britain has a much milder climate than the mainland Europe because it lies in the way of the [[Gulf Stream]], which brings warm water and winds from the Gulf of Mexico.

The northern parts of Britain are on average 5$^{\circ}$C cooler than the southern. Annual rainfall in the north is as well greater, sometimes twice as much, than the annual rainfall in the South.

## Geography
The North and the West of Britain are mountainous and/or hilly, while the South mostly consists of lowlands and flat surfaces, which gives the South much **greater agricultural potential**
