The Gunpowder Plot was a **1605** plot by a group of Catholics, led by Robert Catesby, to blow up the House of Lords and the king on the opening of Parliament.

On **5th November**, [[Guy Fawkes]] was found guarding barrels of gunpowder under the House of Lords.
