**You should inspect every book you are thinking of reading before reading it**

Inspectional reading has two parts: **Systematic skimming** and **Superficial reading**

## Systematic skimming

The algorithm:
1. Study the title, contents, index, publisher's blurb, author's preface
2. Read titles, sub-titles, figures and tables
3. Read a paragraph or two
4. Skim pivotal chapters
5. Classify the book:
	1. Fiction or non-fiction?
	2. Genre?
	3. History, science or philosophy?
	4. Theoretical or practical
6. Write a short synthesis of the book's contents
7. Bullet it's high-level structure
8. Decide whether to read the book or not
