The Duality of Morals: Gordon and the guards kill the HECU soldiers, causing the latter to hate Gordon, showing that they have feelings as well. Some of the HECUs abhor the scientists and find great pleasure in taking their lives, while the other question the operation. 2. The linear structure of the plot, especially in chapters like "On a Rail", underlines the the idea that something secret is steering Gordon to a predetermined outcome, which raises some questions about Gordon's [[free will]] ## [[Half-Life OST|Soundtrack]]
