Steam user Wormweed has published a guide in the community section of REPO
Here are some of his ideas:

- magic exists
- [[REPO Locations|McJannek station]] is most likely in Denmark
- The Headman is the owner of the Headman Manor, although dead and somehow he keeps himself alive using some magic
- the Huntsman is most likely human
- Upscream, the Shadow Child at least used to be humans
- Mentalists are probably good wizards
- The Animal is a heavily deformed human
- The Rugrat maybe the Headman's son
- humanity died out after some disease, those who were immune mutated into the monsters
- the Dealmaker theory: Taxman may occasionally send an emoji combo that suggests the player has made a hasty or uncertain deal with the Taxman and is now forced to work for him, possibly remaining humans that have agreed to live (?) inside the semibots
- The Taxman is a sentient AI
